Rock Band Camp is a program developed for young and aspiring musicians (ages 8-12, 13-17), who want to learn how to visualize, organize, and perform in their own bands.

Utilizing a brief survey of the student's musical interests, experience level, and age group, bands are organized based on common interest and skill levels.

Guided by instructors, students will collaborate with their bandmates to plan a show, while learning how to practice and organize their rehearsal times in efficient ways.  These efforts will go towards their end-of class-concert in a professional, state-of-the-art performance space.

One session will be dedicated to a recording studio date where bands will put together their own demo.  Instructors will give a demonstration of audio production & engineering techniques, as well as further resourses for audio recording.  Professionally mixed, mastered, and manufactured CD's of students' projects will be included at end of class.

Through the process of planning and rehearsing their shows and recordings, students will learn the importance of collaboration, balance of creative/organizational approaches, and independent development/practice.  It is our goal that each student leaves the class with the confidence and skill to meet any goal they choose, with the strategy and experience to back it.

(Already-formed bands wanting an approach to running their band as a business, producing music in-house, booking strategies, or any of the skills mentioned above are encouraged to apply.  See application for more info.)

* Absolute beginners to music are encouraged to start with private instruction before applying to Rock Band Camp.  There is no minimum skill level for Rock Band Camp, but students with no prior experience may feel overwhelmed.  If you're not sure, ask us! ** We encourage students from all musical backgrounds and instrumentations to apply.  Just because it's not a guitar or drum doesn't mean it can't rock out how you want it!  We will have some instruments and equipment available to use first-come-first-serve.  Other than drum sets and amps, if you own your own instrument, you should assume there will not be a class-instrument and utilize your own.  You're going to want to be on the instrument you're most familiar with, anyway :).
